SEDEX -Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, is a not for profit membership organization dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains. It is based in London, UK and is open for membership for companies/brands all over the world.
Sedex is a membership organization for businesses who are focused on a continuous improvement of the ethical performance of their supply chains.
Sedex is the largest collaborative platform for sharing ethical supply chain data. It is an innovative and extremely effective supply chain management solution, helping brands & companies to reduce risk, protect brand reputation and improve supply chain practices.
The Tool and Standard used by SEDEX is named SMETA – Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit. The SMETA Standard is built on four pillars. All members of Sedex successfully improve their supply chain performance using SMETA Standard. These four pillars are:
Labour Standards – to ensure that the Standards and Regulations related to Labour Protection are complied.
Health & Safety – Health and Safety of Labour is taken care.
Environment – Factory complies to Environmental Regulations.
Business Integrity – Facility maintains corporate governance.
Facilities are audited as per SMETA Standard and auditor follows a SEDEX Audit Checklist. SEDEX Audit Checklist is based on Four Pillar SMETA Standard. SEDEX Audit Checklist requires facilities to comply specific requirements in details and aid an auditor to follow SEDEX Audit Checklist so they do not miss to verify while following SEDEX Audit Checklist.
